Capim Santo was born long before Trancoso became one of the most sought-after destinations among Brazilians and foreigners. Capim is the fruit of the life purpose of two young adventurers: Sandra Marques and Nando Leite, who decided to change their lives in search of a more alternative lifestyle, more connected to nature. They arrived in Bahia in 1981, with a daughter in their arms, the now renowned Chef Morena Leite, when everything was still very simple, a small fishing village, without any luxuries or large enterprises, as we see today.

In the summer of the same year, they opened the doors of Bar São João. In 1982, with the money from the bar and the sale of the Gurgel, which they had arrived in the city with, they bought their first piece of land, and soon they were selling food at home, with daily specials, ingredients from the farm, fresh fish from the fisherman who passed by, and granola bowls. In 1985, Sandra and Nando, with little Marcel, six months old, in their arms, opened their Restaurante Capim Santo, which also gave rise, in 1987, to Pousada Capim Santo.

Along with Trancoso, Capim Santo has emerged as the place chosen by jetsetters for their stay here. This movement has led Sandra to also invest in a restaurant in São Paulo, which is now expanding in new locations under Morena's leadership.

Capim de Trancoso is currently managed by Marcel Leite, who, with his keen eye for environmental responsibility, works to ensure that Capim is a tool for transforming Trancoso into the most sustainable destination in Brazil, thus reinforcing the family business's responsibility towards our village.

This story is enriched with the arrival of Fernanda Andrade, Marcel's wife, who has been translating these almost 40 years of history into experiences inside and outside the inn, focused on well-being, self-development and knowledge.

Today, Capim offers a program that ranges from Yoga classes to discussion groups with special guests, organized not only for guests, but also for the community.

The idea is to transform those who pass through Capim Santo Trancoso, and plant in their hearts the desire to live a life with more meaning and connected to nature, taking the flavors of this experience, even when they are back home.
